My blog has been sadly ignored, but now I have photos to show what I have been up to! I spent a few weeks traveling through Thailand with my boyfriend and had an incredible time. We flew into Bangkok and the adventure began from there. We headed up to Chiang Mai, then down south to Krabi and the island of Koh Lanta, and then back to Bangkok. There are a lot of elephant images and let me just say, I absolutely love animals and now elephants are added to my “animal love” list. We were very disappointed to find out how poorly elephants are treated in many parts of Thailand and chose to spend our money at the places that love their elephants. We visited the Elephant Nature Park (close to Chiang Mai) and were able to see elephants that were rescued from a life of misery, living the rest of their lives in a peaceful and happy environment. If I had a ton of money, I would donate every penny to this organization – it was so inspiring and heart wrenching. We chose to avoid participating in activities at the tourist camps where elephants are ridden (although it was tempting!!!). One of our hotels was located close to these camps so you will see several images of oxcarts and elephant riding that I took while exploring and documenting that area of Thailand.  The secondary elephant images (where the elephants are roaming freely, being bathed, and not being ridden) were taken at the Elephant Nature Park.  I highly recommend visiting there and skipping the tourist camps if you ever decide to take a trip to Thailand!
